NC Snow Skiing
The High Country of North Carolina and the areas of Blowing Rock and
Banner Elk are home to the North Carolina ski resorts where so many
enjoy NC snow skiing in the winter months. The mountains of Western
North Carolina receive enough snowfall and freezing temperatures
making the NC High Country a great place for snow skiing and has some of the best
conditions in the Southeast.
In 1962, Appalachian Ski Mountain opened the first ski resort in the
area in Blowing Rock NC, and today it still provides endless winter
fun to area residents and visitors. A short drive from Blowing Rock
to Banner Elk NC and you will find the other three popular NC ski
resorts. At Hawksnest Ski Resort you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding,
and even snow tubing. At Beech Mountain Ski Resort, you can enjoy
skiing and snowboarding, as well as ice skating, as they have an
outdoor ice skating rink. Sugar Mountain Ski resort is the largest
ski area in the state and is usually a favorite among vacationers to
the area.
Each year, the population of the NC High Country swells in the winter
with many vacationers coming to the area to experience a great NC
ski vacation. Residents also enjoy the NC snow skiing in the area, and it
is one of the reasons many move to the region. Residents also have
the advantage as the local NC ski areas regularly have specials for
those who live in the High Country. The NC snow skiing that can be found
here in the High Country is really like none other! |
