Blowing Rock Horse Show
NC horseback riding is a popular activity in Blowing Rock and the
mountain region of North Carolina. There are several great places to
go horseback riding, and the activity is a popular pastime of many
residents in the Blowing Rock area. The horse enthusiasts in the High Country
enjoy getting to see the mountains on horseback and many feel that
it is a great way to see the gorgeous views you might not be able to
see by car. There are several Blowing Rock horse shows that take place each year
for various events, and many boarding facilities in
town as well. The Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve is known for
being the premier equestrian facility in the High Country. For those
who are not horse owners already, several of the boarding locations
also offer guided trail rides, and you can rent a horse to ride for
a few hours.
One particular Blowing Rock horse show, the Blowing Rock Charity
Horse Show, will celebrate its 84th anniversary in 2007 and usually

Horse Show is America’s oldest, continually running horse show. In
years past, proceeds from the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show have
gone to support local organizations and town departments like the
Blowing Rock Fire Department, the Watauga County Humane Society, and
the Blowing Rock Rescue Squad. Also, proceeds support keeping the
horse trails at Moses H. Cone National Park maintained and preserved
so they can be enjoyed by all for many years to come. Each year this
horse show is held at the Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve and is always a
fun time for everyone!
Another Blowing Rock horse show that draws larger numbers each year is the Blue
Ridge Equestrian 4-H Fun Show, in which children of all ages
participate in different competitions. The fun show usually takes
place each year in September and riders of all levels can choose to
participate.
