Put my experience and love of Blowing Rock to work for
you.
A native of Lenoir, Doug moved full-time to Blowing Rock
in 1988 and his only regret is that he did not do it
sooner.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina with a
degree in history, one of his interests has been
renovation and preservation projects. To date, Doug has
been involved in seven such undertakings, four of which
have been in Blowing Rock.
Currently Doug is serving on the Board of Directors of:
Preservation North Carolina (a statewide organization);
Blowing Rock Historical Society; Chapel of Rest
Preservation Society; and Blowing Rock Community Arts
Center. He is also a charter
member of the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum and a
member of Rumple Presbyterian Church.
Doug has a lot of ties to Blowing Rock, being a direct
descendant of one of the first seasonal residents, James
Harper, whose home here was burned by Federal troops in
1865. Relatives also built the first plank road from
Lenoir to Blowing Rock, were involved in the building of
the Green Park Inn in 1882 and another relative was a
visionary for what became the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Doug's personal interests include antique cars, study of
the War Between the States, Historic Preservation,
college sports and travel.
Doug was Top Producer four of the last five years at his
previous location. He looks forward to sharing his
knowledge and love of Blowing Rock with others. |
